SOCIAL SCIENCE

The Department of social science established at the BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology in 2018 under the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences. Currently, the department has a highly qualified team of faculty members with extensive academic and field experiences. The department of social science is a home to faculty members from the areas of Sociology, Economics, Geography and Environment, Archaeology, Law and Psychology. The department consists of 3 full-time faculty members (one Assistant Professor and two Lecturers).

Albeit the department currently does not offer any degree of its own, it prepares students for graduate study in the fields of Textile Engineering, Textile Engineering & Management, Knitwear Manufacturing & Technology, Apparel Manufacturing & Technology, Fashion Design & Technology, Business Administration and Industrial Engineering by providing them a space to grow in Bangladesh studies, sociological, economical, psychological, environmental literacy and understanding of the natural world as part of their education.

Offered courses also help students to understand various advanced theories taught in both graduate and undergraduate programs of different departments and faculties of BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology. The foundation of the Department of Social Science at this University paved the way for teaching and research in RMG of Bangladesh.

The department is determined to create and maintain its reputation by establishing excellent academic environment that provide for ample opportunity to think critically and apply social science to students’ personal experiences.
