Md. Rafiqul Islam Manik is currently working
as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Apparel Merchandising and
Management of BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT), Dhaka,
Bangladesh. His experience spans over 15 years in the field of teaching and RMG
industry. Before joining the teaching profession, Mr. Manik completed his B.Sc.
in Knitwear Manufacture & Technology from BGMEA Institute of Fashion &
Technology (BIFT) which is currently known as BGMEA University of Fashion &
Technology (BUFT), M.Sc. in Textile Engineering (Major in Apparel
Manufacturing) from BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) and MBA
in Product and Fashion Merchandising from Shanto-Mariam University of Creative
Technology (SMUCT). At present, he is pursuing his M.Phil from the Department
of Management Studies of Jahangirnagar University.
Mr. Manik began his
professional career in the merchandising department of Opex and Sinha Textile
Group. He also worked in the merchandising department of Palmal Group of
Industries. In November 2013, he joined as a Lecturer in Shanto-Mariam
University of Creative Technology (SMUCT). His tenure at BUFT began as a
Lecturer in May 2014 and evolved to Assistant Professor in 2018. He also served
as a Head of the Department of Apparel Merchandising and Management Department
from September 2019 to August 2022.

Merchandising, Quality Control Management, Compliance etc.. He teaches a range of
specialized courses such as Total Quality Control Management, Apparel
Merchandising Management, Labor Law and Compliance, Cutting Room Management,
Sewing Tools & Techniques, Clothing Materials and Store Management,
Introduction to Fashion and Apparel Industries etc.
